Wooden labour/birth comb made from peach wood.
This comb can be used to stimulate acupressure points in the hand which can alleviate the sensation of labour contractions.
It also activates the Pain Gate Control theory. This theory proposes that pain signals from the body must pass through a “gate” in the spinal cord before reaching the brain. This gate can either allow or block these pain signals. Non-painful input, such as the pressure of the comb’s teeth on the hand, can close the gate to painful input, like contractions during labour. When the gate is closed, fewer pain signals reach the brain, which helps to reduce the sensation of pain.
The comb measures 9cm x 5cm.
